He has said that it is not possible to move the pipe southward, but the flows are small and the slope is very flat between the scour hole and the top of streambank. Greg also said that the impact for the scour hole was already requested in the application. So, I approve the design Greg emailed to you on Friday. Thanks, Annette From: Landry, Natalie Sent: Wednesday, September 07, 2011 10:27 AM To: Lucas, Annette Subject: RE: House Creek Greenway Question Thanks, Annette! From: Lucas, Annette Sent: Wednesday, September 07, 20119:58 AM To: Landry, Natalie Subject: RE: House Creek Greenway Question Natalie, Just chatted with Greg Purvis - he's going to get me the info on slopes and flows and also he's going to look into moving the pipe south a bit to keep the discharge pt out of the buffer. He'll contact me after he gets that info and we'll work out a solution. A From: Landry, Natalie Sent: Friday, September 02, 2011 10:41 AM To: Lucas, Annette Subject: FW: House Creek Greenway Question Hi Annette, Can I get your input on this? I have been working with Wetherill on the House Creek Greenway in Raleigh. They have encountered an issue in the field that was not picked up on during design (explained below). They are asking to install a pipe under the greenway they are constructing but the pipe will discharge into Zone 1 and they want to construct a scour hole in zone 1 (see attached sketch for their idea). This is the low spot in the greenway, so it is where the water is going to go. Would like to hear your thoughts on this when you have a chance. Thanks so much. Approximately 1000' south of where the trail ties into Blue Ridge Road there is an existing 18" pipe draining from the Beltline median. It drains northward to Sta. 27+80 where there is a slight low area. The trail is going to block this water from eventually draining to the creek and we will pond water along that right side of the trail unless we add a cross pipe (see attached drawing). As you can see from the proposed location of the end of the pipe would be in the buffer. This area was permitted for buffer impacts under our original permit. Please review and let me know if we can put a pipe there. If you want to look at this in the field please give me a call at 851-8077. Thanks Greg S. Purvis, P.E.
