DWQ Project No. 20110461
Jackson County
Dear Mr. Selzer.
On August 16, 2011, I inspected the construction work for the widening project of NCSR 11 I 1 (Zeb Alley
Road) in Jackson County. The heavy grading work appears to be completed and the contractor was placing
gravel on the lower section of the road.
Please ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and mulching are
performed as needed to protect State surface waters. A copy of the inspection report is attached to this letter.
If you have questions, please call me at 828-296-4500.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Parker

Additional comments:
Work is underway on the project and includes heavy grading. Gravel was being placed on the lower section of
the road at the time of inspection.
Sediment and erosion control structures appear to be working properly. It was suggested to DOT inspector that
two areas with steep banks, near the stream, be matted and that the silt fence be relocated in one spot where the
fence was in the stream channel.
Continue to maintain erosion control devices and continue with seeding, matting and mulching as required to
protect State surface waters.
