Hey Sue,
I am a Park Ranger at W. Kerr Scott Lake in Wilkesboro. I have been talking to George Smith and Tim Lathan regarding a
couple of recent land and water disturbances. George directed me to you for more information regarding equipment
used to place large rock along the shoreline. We have a adjacent landowner to clear and reshape the shoreline without
authorization. The landowners actions has caused numerous problems. We have met with our local Soil and Water
office and have worked out a plan to restore the area. Part of the restoration project would be to place large boulders
along the shoreline and dig a toe trench. Then move the soil back to the original area and stabilization the shoreline with
rip rap and re plant the vegetation. Placing the large boulders will require the bucket of the equipment and possibly the
tracks of the equipment to be in the water. What is the process for determining if this activity would be allowed? I have
attached some photos to help describe the area better.
