Enclosed is a request for Department of the Army (DA) pern~it modification submitted by
Mr. Gregory .1. Thorpe, Ph.D for the DA permit issued on November 10, 2003, to authorize the
discharge of dredged and fill material into the waters of United States, for construction of
Sections AB and AC of the Greensboro Western Urban Loop (T[P No. U-2524 AB and AC),
impacting Long Branch, Reddicks Creek and its unnamed tributaries, unnamed tributaries of Bull
Run Creek, and Hickory Creek, and adjacent wetlands, from I-85, to 1-40, on the southwest side
of Greensboro, in Guilford County, North Carolina.
Specifically, please be aware of-tile request to modify condition 14 of your Water duality
Certification No. 3435 dated October 24, 2003, issued in conformity with the requirements of
Section 401 associated with T[P No. U-2524 AB and AC (see page 2 of attached letter). As this
is a request to modify your Water Quality Certification, 1 have forward this request on to you for
your review and consideration. Please keep us inform of any decision or modifications that are
made in regard to this request.
