Page 11 of 11 PCN Form -Version 1.3 December 10, 2008 Version PROJECT NARRATIVE PROJECT PLAN AND LOCATION MAP BOB CROOKS STREAM RESTORATION PROJECT The Bob Crooks site is located on a tributary to Silver Creek which flows into the Catawba River at Morganton, NC, immediately upstream from Lake Rhodhiss (On the 2006 303d list for Standard Violation High pH). In general, this project will benefit water quality downstream by reducing sediment delivery from unstable stream banks. It will also be used in an effort to promote similar projects in Burke County. In addition to reduced sediment delivery, this project will realize additional benefits with respect to stream protection. A much needed woody vegetated buffer will be established to ensure continued success of the project. The length of stream to be restored is 405 linear feet. Bio-engineering techniques will be implemented to repair the stream segments including log vanes, bank shaping and establishing woody vegetation. Soil erosion will be reduced by an estimated 6 tons to the stream.
