Dear Mr. McMillan:
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission requests a review and subsequent
approval of the enclosed application to construct a new boating access on the Hyco Afterbay in
Person County. Five copies of the abbreviated application form for impacts to FERC regulated
water bodies, five copies of the plans, and documentation of the permit fee transfer are enclosed for
your review. At this time I am unable to include a copy of the lease agreement for the project
property; we are in the process of obtaining a lease for the property from Progress Energy Carolinas.
It would be of great benefit if you could review the project for compliance and withhold final
approval until the executed lease is submitted. I am requesting this because our construction
schedule for next year requires we start this project October 1, 2011 and I am trying to eliminate
compounding delays in property acquisition and obtaining regulatory approval.
An application package has also been forwarded to Eric Alsmeyer with the US Army Corps
of Engineers.
