Dear Mr. Setzer:
On July ] 4, 2011, I inspected the construction work for the new bridge over the Nantahala River on US
Highway 19-74 in Swain County. The temporary bridge has been constructed and most of the old bridge had
been removed except for one section on the west side of [he river. Sediment and erosion control structures
appeared to be working properly with no sediment loss to the Nantahala River.
Please ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and mulching are
performed as needed to protect State surface waters. A copy of the inspection report is attached to this letter.
