TII' No. R-2582 and R-2584, SCH Project No. 11-0316 Staff biologists with the N. C. Wildlife Resources Commission have reviewed the subject SFEIS and are familiar with habitat values in the project area. The purpose of this review was to assess project impacts to fish and wildlife resources. Our comments are provided in accordance with certain provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (42 U.S.C. 4332(2)(c)) and the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C. 661-667d). NCDOT proposes to improve US 158 for 34.6 miles from Interstate 95 at Weldon to the Merfreesboro Bypass: As a member of the Section 404/NEPA Merger Team, NCWRC does not object to the selected Least Environmentally Damaging Alternative. We have reviewed the data provided in the SFEIS. The SFEIS reflects NCWRC comments from prior meetings and coordination. This project will continue to go through the Section 404/NEPA Merger process. Specifically agency coordination will continue through concurrence point 4b and 4c in the Section 404/NEPA Merger process. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
