NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE
PROPOSED REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE NO. 148 ON MACEDONIA CHURCH
ROAD (STATE ROAD 1326) OVER LAMANCE CREEK
TIP Project No. B-4989 Transylvania County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the
above Citizens Informational Workshop on Tuesday, December 7, 2010,
between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Pisgah Astronomical
Research Institute - Cline Administrative Building, 1 Pari Drive, Rosman.
Interested individuals may attend this informal workshop at their
convenience during the above stated hours. Department of Transportation
representatives will display maps and will be available to answer questions and
receive comments from the public. There will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to replace Bridge No. 148 on Macedonia Church Road
(SR 1326) over Lamance Creek. The purpose and need of the project is to
replace the structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridge with a new
structure. One alternative for replacement is presently being studied, a replace-
in-place alternative, which would replace the existing bridge with a culvert.
During construction, the bridge will be closed to local traffic. An offsite detour is
proposed that will re-route traffic using the following roads: SR 1309 (Silversteen
Road), US 64, and NC 215. Proposed improvements may require additional right
of way.
