Substrate was rocky but with high embeddedness. Flowing water was absent from the channel but surface water was found in one deep pool. The sweep net sample collected 1 fish species (not Gambusia), two larval salamanders, two adult beetle species, red midges. Further investigation of rocks upstream produced a water penny (Psephenidae) beetle. With the occurrence of fish, salamanders, and water pennies plus the geomorphological characteristics I would label this stream as perennial despite the lack of flowing water. Please let me know if you have any questions.
