HomeMy WebLinkAbout20110454 Ver 1_Other Agency Comments_20110516(l- o~ sy qY1 1f ~~sq~~ ~?o,, ~Q r ~~ '"~y ®North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission Gordon Myers, Executive Director MEMORANDUM TO: Lori Beckwith, USACOE Asheville Regulatory Field Office FROM: Ron Linville, Regional Coordinator / Habitat Conservation Program DATE: May 12, 2011 SUBJECT: SRI919, Rich Mountain Road, Henry Fork (C, ORW) and Ivy Creek (C, Trout, ORW), Burke County North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to replace and extend culverts during the referenced road improvements project. Biologists with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission are familiar with habitat values in the area. These comments are provided in accordance with the provisions of the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C. 661-667d) and the North Carolina Environmental Policy Act (G.S. 113A-1 through 113A-10; NCAC 25). The.NCDOT project will extend four (4) culverts along the roadway. All the crossings are on perennial waters. A total of 90 additional permanent stream impacts will occur. Based on our review of the submittal and our knowledge of area habitats, we will not object to the project as proposed providing aquatic life passage is provided where possible.
