NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFOR,VIATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE
PROPOSED REPLACEJ~IENT OF BRIDGE NUMBER 33

TIP Project No. B-4722B WBS NO. 38396.1.1 Carteret County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above
Citizens Informational Workshop on June 23, 2011, between [he hours of 4:30 pm and
6:30pm at East Carteret High School Cafeteria, 3263 Highway 70 East, Beaufort, 2816.
The purpose of this workshop is for NCDOT representatives to provide
information, answer questions, and accept written comments regarding this project. Maps
denoting the proposed project area will be displayed. The workshop provides the public
an opportunity to participate in the planning process. Comments and information received
from the public will be taken into consideration as work on this project progresses.
Citizens may drop in anytime during the workshop hours. Please note: there will no[ be a
formal presentation.
This project proposes to replace Bridge Number 33 on US 70 Business near
Beaufort with a new structure immediately to the north of the existing structure. The
proposed bridge will have two lanes of traffic, one travel lane in each direction. It will
also accommodate bicycle traffic with 4-foot bicycle lanes on each side. The height of
the bridge will be mostly unchanged. Traffic will be maintained on the existing structure
during construction.
