NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE PROPOSED
SR 2755 (CARMON ROAD) GRADE SEPARATION WITH THE NORTH CAROLINA
RAILROAD/NORFOLK SOUTHERN RAILROAD (NCRR/NS) IN MCLEANSVILLE

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above
Citizens Informational Workshop on Thursday, August 16, 2007 between the hours of
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of McLeansville Elementary School located
at 5315 Frieden Church Road, McLeansville.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to
submit written comments or questions also will be provided. Interested citizens may
attend at anytime during the above mentioned hours. No formal presentation will be
made.
NCDOT proposes to replace the existing rail crossing of SR 2755 (Carmon
Road) and the North Carolina Railroad/Norfolk Southern (NCRR/NS) track with a
nearby grade separated crossing. A grade separation means using a bridge to
separate intersecting roads and/or railroads. The proposed grade separation is part
of an effort to reduce the number of redundant and/or unsafe rail-highway at-grade
crossings statewide. It would also provide McLeansville with a safe and convenient
crossing of the tracks when trains are moving through, or are temporarily stopped in
the area.
