Area of Potential Effects (A.P.E.) is 0.6 mile long and 60feet wide. SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW Briefdescription of review activities, results of review, and conclusions: Review consisted of background research. There are no previously recorded archaeological sites in the study area, it has not been reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Office (HPO) or previously surveyed for archaeological sites. Examination of historic maps (1902, 1908, 1919 and 1938) show SR 1117 was constructed between 1908-1919, and none show any structures in the A.P.E. Review of the Beaufort County soil survey indicates the A.P.E. will impact landforms with a low probability for prehistoric archaeological sites. The soils are poorly drained, and the topographic map'shows numerous drainage ditches have been excavated in order to make the area viable for agriculture. Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE: The project will not impact any sites that are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The landforms in the study area have low potential for prehistoric archaeological sites. SUPPORT DOCUMENTATION See attached: ® Map(s) ? Previous Survey Info ? Photos ?Correspondence ? The call was made on September 9, 2009 and the feature was called Not Subject at the road crossing. The feature may become subject farther down and ties into Sheppard Run 2,000 ft from the road so care should be taken to control offsite turbidity if work is performed during flowing conditions.
