As you know most of the construction work is taking place at the southern end of the project. A final inspection was conducted on the project north of the run away vehicle sand trap and all of the areas appeared to be in good stable condition. The erosion and sedimentation control structures, vegetative covering, mulching and matting appear to be working properly. Continue to ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and , mulching are performed as needed to protect downstream waters. Please refer to the attached inspection report for additional comments and recommendations. If you have questions, please call me at 828-296-4500. Sincerely, Michael R. A Final Inspection of the project was conducted except for the section of US 321 south of the runaway vehicle sand trap. All of the areas north of the sand trap appear to be in good stable condition. Some minor seeding is needed at various areas on the project. Please continue to monitor the steep slope and blasting at the southern end of the project. Steep slopes and sediment could pose a problem if not properly controlled. The area along NCSR 1370 (Kirby Mountain Road) appears to be stable at the present time. This area should be watched carefully and additional sediment and erosion measures may be required. This area also appeared to be in good condition. Continue to maintain sediment and erosion control structures to protect state surface waters. 06-30-10 US 321 Inspection Report
