I have reviewed the permit application that seeks to perform dredging within the
Cape Fear Marina located immediately north of the Isabella Holmes Bridge and
adjacent to the Northeast Cape Fear Rive in Wilmington, NC. I also realize that
this area is in a primary nursery area as defined by NC Division of Marine
Fisheries.
I feel that the proposed dredging will be a positive for the marina and fully
support and trust that the Division will permit this proposal. Boating and marinas
provide public access to the waters of the United States and I do not feel that
having docks and boats sitting on the bottom of the river is the best for every
aspect involved. Including the fish that will live around the marinas.
Downtown Wilmington along the Cape Fear River has a long history of
merchants, shipyards and other economic viable businesses. Please consider
this and the good of the many versus the non-impact to fish.
