NOTICE OF AN INFORMAL PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED
INSTALLATION OF NEW RAIL SIDING NORTH OF GREENVILLE
TIP Project No. P-3309AB
Pitt County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above
informal Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 between the hours of 5:00 p.m.
and 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Wellcome Middle School located at 3101 N.
Memorial Drive, Greenville.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments about the project. The opportunity to submit written
comments or questions will be provided. Interested citizens may attend at any time
during the above mentioned hours. Please note there will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to relocate the CSXT rail yard out of downtown Greenville to
a preferred location along the existing CSXT rail line south of Staton Mill Road. The
purpose of the project is to improve the movement of freight and the safety of
vehicles traveling through downtown Greenville by relocating the existing rail yard.
A map displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the
environmental document, the Environmental Assessment (EA), is available for public
review at the NCDOT Division Engineer's Office located at 105 Pactolus Highway
(NC 33), Greenville, 27835; Greenville Public Works Department located at 1500
Beatty Street, Greenville, 27834 and at the Greenville Planning Department in the
Municipal Building located at 200 W. Fifth Street, Greenville, 27835.
Anyone desiring additional information may contact Jamille Robbins, NCDOT-
Human Environment Unit at 1598 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1598, by
phone at (919) 707-6085 or via e-mail at iarobbins@ncdot.gov. Additional material
may be submitted until July 14, 2011.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with
Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone
requiring special services should contact Mr. Robbins as early as possible so that
arrangements can be made.
