As a citizen with business headquarters and home in Wilmington, this letter is written in
support of the request of Bennett Brothers Yacht to maintain their marina water depth to
a -4.5 MLW as previous permits allowed when the docks were originally installed
approximately 12 years ago. Docks now sit in the mud and it is very much a negative to
the Wilmington water front. Bennett Brothers has made a substantial investment in this
property, marina business, the community, and have improved/enhanced the waterfront in
down town Wilmington significantly to the benefit of all concerned. The Bennett
Brothers Yacht business is an asset to the site and Wilmington, far better than the
industrial use of the property that once occupied the site. The thought of maintenance
dredging disturbing juvenile fish in that specific area is of concern and without merit.
The NC Division of Water Quality's approval of the maintenance dredging needed in this
area is greatly appreciated.
