Subject: Request for a NW 18 permit for pipe replacement on SR 1309 Main Street Extended, Elizabeth
City, in Pasquotank County.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting a NW 18 permit for pipe
replacement on SR 1309 Main Street Extended in Pasquotank County. The pipe is located approximately
0.4 miles from the intersection of US 17. The pipe will be removed using NCDOT best management
practices for pipe replacement. This pipe will be installed at a location where there is not currently an
existing pipe. The proposed pipe is I @ 40'x 36" Corrugated Aluminum Pipe with riprap on both ends.
The pipe's location has wetlands on both sides that serve as a maintained powerline corridor. The proposed
pipe will act as an overflow pipe for an adjacent pipe structure that is located 120' to the west of this
location. The PCN, vicinity map, and permit drawings are included with this letter. If you need any

To install a new pipe under SR 1309 to act as an equilizer for the adjacent pipe structure during high flow conditions. The
adjacent structure is located approximately 120' west of this location.

To install a 1 @ 40' x 36" corrugated aluminum pipe with riprap on both ends on new location. Proper fill will be used to
bring road to existing height. Heavy equipment that will be used will be an excavator, backhoe, and dump trucks.
