Project Description 3a. Describe the existing conditions on the site and the general land use in the vicinity of the project at the time of this application: The site is comprised of an existing 1.1 acre pond, forests and pasture. General land use is in the area includes farming, residential and forest lands. 3b. List the total estimated acreage of all existing wetlands on the property: Unknown, there are no wetland impacts associated with the lake bed dredging. 3c. List the total estimated linear feet of all existing streams (intermittent and perennial) on the property: Unknown, there are no stream impacts associated with the lake bed dredging. 3d. Explain the purpose of the proposed project: The purpose of the project is to remove accumulated sediments that have built up and return the pond to its original depth. 3e. Describe the overall project in detail, including the type of equipment to be used: This project will consist of minor dredging of the silted-in areas to deepen the pond to its original depth. The water level in the lake will be lowered using a mechanized pump from the surface down. This dredging involves construction of a temporary haul road through the existing pond for a long arm backhoe to remove accumulated sediment and deposit it in a designated spoil area (see Grading Plan and Figure 3). Sediment will be excavated using a backhoe and immediately placed into trucks and hauled to an upland disposal site (single-haul). During construction Flannery Fork will be diverted to the edge of the lake and isolated from the lake bed by the construction of a temporary berm (see attached grading plan). No dredging of vegetated wetlands is proposed as part of this project. The project also includes construction of a dock (See attached Site Plan). This dock will be supported by 15 wooden posts that will be pile driven into the lake bed. The lake will be slowly filled, while maintaining a minimum base flow downstream. This will be accomplished by using a mechanized pump. The proposed dredging project is expected to be completed in less than 30 days. Page 3 of 11 PCN Form - Version 1.3 December 10, 2008 Version 4.
