This public meeting will be held at the NC State Fairgrounds, Governor James G. Martin Building, Agriculture Department Auxiliary (ADA) Room, located at 1025 Blue Ridge Road (entry off of Trinity Road at Gate 9) in Raleigh. It will be held beginning at 4:00 pm and ending at 7:00 pm. The purpose of this Citizens Informational Workshop is to provide information regarding the proposed project and to obtain public input. Interested citizens may drop by anytime between the above-mentioned hours and view the project maps on display. NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal, open house-style setting to answer questions and receive comments relative to the proposed project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions will be provided and is encouraged. Please note: there will be no formal presentation. The need for the project was identified in 2001 during a planning study conducted by the City of Raleigh. It was recommended that a grade-separation (bridge over or under) of Blue Ridge Road and the existing railroad crossing and connecting ramps to Hillsborough Street, be evaluated. The project proposes to improve the intersection of Hillsborough Street (NC 54) and Blue Ridge Road (State Road 1664), including the elimination of the existing Blue Ridge Road railroad crossing of the CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern railway tracks and the intersection with Beryl Road (State Road 3042). The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce congestion at the Hillsborough Street / Blue Ridge Road intersection; reduce train-related conflicts with both vehicles and pedestrians; and address future pedestrian facility use for high-volumes of pedestrian traffic. Anyone desiring additional information may contact Leza Wright Mundt, Project Manager, Project Development & Environmental Analysis Branch, by phone: (919) 707- 6032 or email: Iwmundt@ncdot.gov; or NCDOT consultant, Robin Pugh of ARCADIS, by phone: (919) 854-1282 x110 or email: robin.puqh@arcadis-us.com. NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone requiring special services should contact Ms. Mundt as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
