SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW
Brief description of review activities, results of review, and conchastons:
Review of BPO quad maps, historic designations roster, and indexes was undertaken on 27 January
2011. Based on this review, there are no existing NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of
Potential Effects (APE). Google Maps "Street View" and current Pitt County GIS Mapping and tax
information also indicate that there are no historic structures present within the APE. Several mobile
homes are located west of the bridge but are not historic structures.
BriefExplanatton ofwhy the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting
that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE:
HPO quad maps recording NR, SL, LD, DE, and SS properties for the Pitt County survey, Pitt County
GIS information, Pitt County Tax Information, and Google Maps "Street View" are considered valid for
the purposes of determining the likelihood of historic resources being present.

Project Description: Replace Bridge No. 45 on SR 1753 (Stokestown-St. John's Road) over Fork of
Grindle Creek with an Arch Pipe.
SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW
Brief description of review activities, results ofreview, and conclusions:
The maps and files at the OSA were reviewed for this project on 1/27/2011. There are no previously
documented archaeological sites in the APE, based upon reviewing OSA quad mapping, no are there
previous environmental reviews or surveys. The CRS also reviewed photographs, various mapping,
including soils, and design plans submitted by the Division 2 Environmental Program Supervisor.
Additionally, Pitt County mapping from the 1938 Highway Commission maps was reviewed for any
details of particular cultural or industrial interest. No further work is recommended. Note, cemeteries in
the local vicinity should not be affected by this undertaking, as currently planned
Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting
that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE:
It is unlikely that undocumented, significant archaeological sites are located in the limited and previously
disturbed APE.
