Additional information will be required in order to complete the review process. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project. Additional Information Requested: Please provide photo-documentation (including scale) of the area that you wish to provide stabilization. You may e-mail digital photos to the attention of Ms. Susan Wilson at susan.a.wilson(a?ncdenr.gov . 2. Please discuss the possibility of bioengineered (vegetative) techniques at the property. The DWQ will not approve rip-rap or a hard structure until this option is evaluated. Lake Glenville levels are currently at approximately 95 feet. Please explain how work will be performed "in the dry" as required by DWQ's Water Quality Certification. It is possible that, if the shoreline stabilization is approved, work may have to be conducted next year (or during the next draw-down period). Payne Prop.3 201 Idoc.doc Re: Request for More Information DWQ Project #11-0139 Dear Mr. McMillan and Ms. Wilson, 11ft[ROWERN APR 0 8 2011 SAND STORM q? BRANCH We are providing responses to the questions you have asked to help in our application process for our property on Lake Glenville. 1. We have emailed photo-documentation to Susan Wilson of a series of photos that depict the current area. We have also sent a drawing of the proposed solution. I am attaching an additional copy of the proposed drawing. The area reflects approximately 60 feet of shoreline where the vertical drop from our land to the water when at its highest water level is 3 feet at the lowest drop and 6 feet at the highest. 2. The area has a vertical drop from the land to the lake of 3 - 6 feet along the eroded area. We have consulted with our contractor, Delton Mears, who has spoken with Ms. Wilson by phone. Because of the steep grade, bioengineering is not a feasible alternative. 3. We understand that the current lake level is too high for work to begin. With approval, we will wait until the lake is at its low level to begin work on the wall. An area of concern and safety is the access to our pier and dock. Photos also illustrate this problem. Our contractor discussed the ability to correct access on the land, not disturbing any lake borders, so we can safely access our dock prior to the retaining wall being completed. With approval, we hope to have some work done only on land to enable us to safely get to the dock from the land. Delton Mears has outlined a proposal to Lisa Leatherman. We hope this additional information provides you what is needed to make a decision about our application. Please let us know if we need to provide more details. Our contractor, Delton Mears, and I have tried to be a thorough as possible. We appreciate your consideration. Elizabeth and Brad Payne 1280 Strawberry Hill Road, Lake Glenville, NC R `D f S ?
