Please see the attached "sketch". Kimley-Horn and Wal-Mart sat down with the contractor yesterday to make sure we
have our ducks in a row to make the various changes called for in the plans we submitted and that you are reviewing.
One item that came up with Wetland A had to do with maintaining the cover over the two inlet pipes and the outlet
barrel within the pond (not the outlet). The three areas are marked on the sketch. If we left the cover over these pipes
(they are reinforced concrete pipes), then the side slopes of the cover material and immediately adjacent to the pipes
(i.e. within 10+/- feet) may exceed 3:1. Please see the attached pictures that show the existing cover over the pipes. This
is how we intend to leave it - other than removing the dead sod, applying a proper layer of top soil and re-establishing
permanent vegetative ground cover. All in all the cover areas are small and should not have any stability issues. We can
remove the cover soil, but we would prefer to leave cover soil over the pipes. As such, we are requesting that we can
leave the cover over the pipes, even though it may have side slopes that exceed 3:1 in those immediate areas.
So, the question is can we leave the cover as is (except for the top soil and vegetation)?
