The Wetlands Unit staff reviewed the plans for the subject project regarding the Edwards Branch restoration associated
with Edwards Branch Phase II dated November 2, 2001. The plans do not include the use of hardening except for a small
segment and, as such, the plans are hereby approved per conaition no. 1 of the 401 Water Quality Certification dated
June 1, 2001.
However, as stated in the previous approval dated November 5. 2001 no decision has been made in regards to mitigation
credit. It is recommended that you provide a physical monitorkm plan based on the Wetland Restoration Program's Draft
Physical and Vegetation Monitoring Outline (Success Criteria) nttiGh can be obtained at
httDJ/h2o.ehnr.state.nc.us/ncwetlands/restore.htmL This information, as well as the biological monitoring, and permanent
preservation components are necessary in order to establish mitigation credit for this portion of the project.
