Payne 3 807 Narmore Drive Atlanta, GA 30319 Subject: Request for More Information 401 Water Quality Certification Payne Property - Glenville Shoreline Stabilization DWQ Project # 11-0139 Jackson County Response deadline: April 18, 2011 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Payne: The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) has performed a preliminary review of a 401 Water Quality Certification application submitted for the above referenced property. Additional information will be required in order to complete the review process. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project. Additional Information Requested: 1. Please provide photo-documentation (including scale) of the area that you wish to provide stabilization. You may e-mail digital photos to the attention of Ms. Susan Wilson at susan.a.wilsonnncdenr.gov. . 2. Please discuss the possibility of bioengineered (vegetative) techniques at the property. The DWQ will not approve rip-rap or a hard structure until this option is evaluated. 3. Lake Glenville levels are currently at approximately 95 feet. Please explain how work will be performed "in the dry" as required by DWQ's Water Quality Certification. It is possible that, if the shoreline stabilization is approved, work may have to be conducted next year (or during the next draw-down period). Wilson Surface Water Protection Section 2090 US HWY 70 Swannanoa, NC 28778 If we do not hear from you by the deadline, we will assume that you no longer want to pursue this project and we will consider the project withdrawn. This letter only addresses the preliminary application review and does not authorize any impacts to wetlands, waters or protected buffers.
