All interested parties are notified that the North Carolina Department of Transportation
(NCDOT) has submitted a request to the Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District, for the
proposed replacement of a bridge over a navigable waterway of the United States.
WATERWAYAND LOCATION. Across Lords Creek, at mile 0.1, in Wilmington, New
Hanover County, NC. Refer to attachment. CHART # 11537.
CHARACTER OF WORK: The NCDOT proposes to replace, in-kind, the NC Route
1100/River Road Bridge over Lords Creek. The applicant is requesting a waiver of a bridge
permit under Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations, Section 115.70, advance approval for
bridges. Advance approval waterways are those that are navigable in law, but not actually
navigated by other than small boats. The Commandant of the Coast Guard has given advance
approval to the construction or repair of bridges across such waterways
MINIMUM NAVIGATIONAL CLEARANCES:
Vertical Clearance is 3.5 feet above mean high water.
Horizontal Clearance is 25.0 feet between pile bents.
SOLICITATION OF COMMENTS: It is further requested that mariners and adjacent property
owners express their views, in writing, on the proposed project giving sufficient detail to
establish a clear understanding of their reasons for support of or opposition to this project.
