He sent this response back electronically. Does he need to send the response back in hard copy form to your office with the appropriate number of copies? FYI —We are still discussing these responses, so they are not final. Also, I got a voicemail from Michael Gloden with PBSJ about the Monroe Turnpike files (haven't returned the call yet). Have you spoken with him recently? He was asking if SELC needed the preliminary data forms from 2008. Their opinion is that SELC doesn't need them. I think if SELC has asked to see "everything', then these preliminary data forms should be made available too. If you are having any difficulty getting files, let me know and I will contact Michael. Thanks for all your help on this! I apologize for the lag in response time but I appreciate you taking a look at the site for us. I have some answers to a number of concerns you expressed regarding the project: • How will the riprap be keyed into the bank so that it won't move downstream during storm events? The riprap will be keyed into the bank according to NCDOTStondord 876.02 — Guide for Rip Rap at Pipe Outlets. See attached PDF. • Will you have to do any work to stabilize the slope on the right bank (if looking downstream)? This existing slope appears to be nearly 1:1 with a few smaller dbh trees. The disturbed side slope will be stabilized by the riprap apron at the pipe outlet according to NCDOT Standard 876.02. The side slope will be gently graded to 1.5:1 or flatter and covered with filter fabric and riprap. • Will the riprap be installed such that it is below the existing streambed elevation so that low flow of water and aquatic life passage won't be impeded? The riprap will be installed below the existing streambed elevation according to NCDOTStondord 876.02 — Guide for Rip Rap at Pipe Outlets. See attached PDF. • Additionally, please provide the size of riprap proposed for the dissipator pad. The riprap is proposed to be Class B (diameter between 5"-15"). You are correct in assuming that the culvert burial is not an issue since we are installing a junction box. If you have any more questions or concerns regarding the project please do not hesitate to contact me. I went out to the site on Monday and it appears that the stream is pretty close to the parking area for the apartment complex. The application indicates that 23 linear feet of riprap (apron) will be installed at the end of the culvert for energy dissipation. How will the riprap be keyed into the bank so that it won't move downstream during storm events? Will you have to do any work to stabilize the slope on the right bank (if looking downstream)? This existing slope appears to be nearly 1:1 with a few smaller dbh trees.
