REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION: STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
Dear Mr. Ward:
On February 3, 2010, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) issued a 401 Certification to impact 0.35
acres of 404/wetland and 219 linear feet of perennial stream to construct the above named property.
Condition Number 6 of the 401 Certification requires that all future phases of this project receive
approval for a stormwater management plan that treats all of the stormwater from that phase. The
approval of the SMP must be obtained prior to any land disturbance or impacts associated with that phase.
On February 7, 2011, the DWQ received a stormwater management plan (dated February 7, 2011)
from your consultant, Mr. Warren Sugg, P.E. of Mulkey Engineers and Surveyors. The DWQ has
determined that the stormwater management plan was incomplete as discussed below.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Please provide a detail of the outlet structure on the plan sheets.
2. Please provide a detail of the outlet barrel, including details for anti-seep protection.
3. Our calculation of the drawdown time is slightly lower than the required two days. Please
check the calculation and provide a smaller outlet orifice if necessary.
4. A clay liner is not necessary due to the elevation of the seasonal high water table. The DWQ
suggests removal of the clay liner to facilitate interaction between the stormwater and the
shallow groundwater.
The DWQ will require the above additional information to finalize review of the stormwater
management plan for the subject property. Please provide this information within 30 calendar days.
