This project consists of repairs to an EEP Full-Delivery Project to be issued out of MRO. I
have reviewed the PCN and plans. At a number of locations they are proposing to put cross
vanes in existing constructed riffles. This seems odd to me as cross vanes generally create
scour pools, and are usually used at the foot of riffles and not in the middle of riffles. I
noted these on Sheet 5D (sta. 29+50), Sheet 5E (sta. 37+75 and 42+29), Sheet 5N (sta.
39+75) and Sheet 5P (sta. 55+00 through 58+00).
Also, I noted check dams shown in the channel on Sheet 5N (sta. 39+75) and Sheet 5Q (sta.
59+75). I assume these are temporary but this is not stated anywhere.
Pretty significant repairs, I hope the design is not such that they are out in another few
years doing more repairs. I would have liked to have seen some analysis as to why this stream
requires so many repairs.
