REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION(Storm water Management Plan)
Dear Mr.Howell:
On January 18,2011,the 40l/Wetlands Permitting Unit of the Division of Water Quality(DWQ)received additional
information regarding your stormwater management plan(SMP)for the Foothills Commerce Center in Cleveland
County. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project and prevent
return of your application as required by 15A NCAC 2H.0506:
Additional Information Requested:
l. Planting plan:Please revise the planting plan to adhere to the DWQ BMP Manual(Section 10.3.7.Plant and
Landscape Requirements)including but not limited to:
a. The minimum number of plants required is 50 plants per 200 sq.ft. of shelf area,and a minimum of 3 diverse
species shall be incorporated for each half of the shelf.
b. Page 10-16 of the BMP Manual states that"trees and woody shrubs should not be planted on the shelf or pond
embankments".Herbaceous vegetation should be planted instead.
c. One general rule of thumb that may be used is that the spacing should be approximately 24"to 36"centers.
d. See Chapter 9 for appropriate vegetation choices(note: cattails are prohibited in wet ponds).
e. Provide local nursery supplier information for proposed native plant species.
Please respond within 30 days of the date of this letter by sending two(2)collated copies of the above information
and any revisions in writing.This letter only addresses the application review and does not authorize any impacts to
wetlands,waters or protected buffers.
