Mike,
I believe I spoke with Stephen Lane regarding this project last month, and if i
remember correctly the pipe opening will be as larger than the current bridge
opening. if this is correct, we support WRC's moratorium of Feb 15 to June 15 for
this project.

Project Description: Replace existing bridge with a 14 foot long by 8 feet 7 inch CAAPA pipe on SR
1721 Little Creek Road over Little Creek.
SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW
Brief description ofreview activities, results of review, and conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, historic designations roster, and indexes was undertaken on 8/26/2010.
Based on this review, there are no existing NR properties in the Area of Potential Effects. No properties
recorded in that document appear to be present in the project APE.
Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting
that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE: Current plans call for replacement of the
existing bridge with a pipe set in the same location of the existing bridge. Only change from the existing
bridge is a 1.4 percent increase in grade to the approach to the crossing. There will be no impact to any
land beyond the existing right of way. Additional fill within the right of way will constitute the majority
of construction.

SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW
Brief description of review activities, results of review, and conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, relevant background reports, historic designations roster, and indexes was
undertaken on August 24, 2010. Based on this review, there were no existing NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS
properties in the Area of Potential Effects Beaufort County GIS mapping (2007) including aerial
photography and tax information revealed no structures more than 50 years old exists within the APE.
Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting
that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE:
The Beaufort County Historic Architecture Survey was conducted in 1979. No historic structures were
identified near the APE of this project. The Beaufort County Tax Parcel Data is considered valid for the
purposes of determining the likelihood of historic resources being present. .
