DWQ Project # 2010-0510
Dear Mr. McMillan:
Attached are 5 copies of the PCN (1 original and 4 copies), 5 copies of the Plans
and Calculations, 2 copies of the BMP O&M agreements (1 original and 1 copy)
and one CD of the Plan Drawings in TIFF format.
Revisions for this submittal (January 4, 2011):
1. All references to future development impervious areas were removed from
the calculations, narratives and drawings.
2. The bio-retention basin was redesigned to provide a minimum of 2'
clearance to the seasonal high water table.
• The bio-retention basin was resized to exclude capacity for future
impervious and to reduce the width of the basin.
• The soil media depth was reduced from 3' to 2' to raise the invert of
the under drain system to a minimum of 2' above the seasonal high
water table.
• The bio-retention basin was converted from a planted basin to a
sodded basin to accommodate the reduced depth of soil media.
3. An impermeable geo-membrane liner was added to the forebay to prevent
short circuiting.
Please give me a call at (919) 848-3347 if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
n

D. Impact Justification and Mitigation
1. Avoidance and Minimization
1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing project.
Some existing impervious areas that currently drain to the Southern portion of the site have been re-routed to the proposed Bio-retention basin to
offset proposed impervious areas that will drain to the southern portion of the site. BMP & outfall required as an alternate to diffuse flow (buffer to steep
by guidance).

No Riprap will be placed in the riparian buffer, grassed permanent swale linings will be used in the Bio-retention basin emergency spillway to dissipate
flow and control erosion.
