REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION (Stormwater Management Plan)
Dear Mr. Howell:
On December 3, 2010, the 401/Wetlands Permitting Unit of the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your
stormwater management plan (SMP) along with supporting information for the subject project in Cleveland County.
Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project and prevent return of
your application as required by 15A NCAC 2H .0506:
Additional Information Requested:
1. Please provide the complete information for Wet Ponds 2 and 3 including all the requested information on the
required items checklist.
2. Wet Detention Basin #1 (may be applicable to Ponds 2 & 3):
a. Please specify the orifice sizes on the plans.
b. Based on the design information, the orifice size for pond Ishall not exceed 2.5 inches. It is recommended
that the water quality design volume drains not less than 2 days, and the entire temporary pool volume
drains not more than 5 days.
c. As discussed with your engineer, the flow elongation baffles may be eliminated. The forebay weir for
pond #3 should be located in the middle of the berm. All three forebay weirs should be reinforced with
appropriate riprap.
d. Volume of forebay shall be 18 - 22% of entire pond volume.
e. A larger outlet pipe is recommended to pass larger storms. A 6-inch pipe is significantly inadequate.
f. Please submit anti-flotation calculations for the outlet structure.
