Dear. Mr. Dorney:
The Town of Mooresville would like to request a modification to the design of their raw water intake
structure on Lake Norman, currently in construction as included under the "Finding of No Significant
Impact" dated 3/1/2007 (cover letter attached). The modification is being requested to provide for an
improved overall design, more consistent raw water quality, and reduced impacts to the existing lake. In
general, the permit modification being requested will eliminate the submerged intake design included in
the original design. The new raw water pumping station currently in construction under the approved FNSI
will withdraw water from the existing tower intake structure currently in use.
This work will be constructed by the construction contractor currently constructing the raw water pumping
station under the same Town of Mooresville Contract. A set of revised drawings and specifications for the
change in scope to the existing construction contract has been included for your use in reviewing this
