Enclosed are revisions to the original Pre-Construction Notification (PCN) Application Form that was
approved on September 10, 2009 for the following project: Orleans Place Sanitary Sewer
Improvements. 31,
The Orleans Place Sanitary Sewer Improvements project has been revised to keep the sanitary sewer in
the existing easement where possible. It is our understanding through recent discussions with the City
of Raleigh that any utility installation within an existing easement does not require mitigation. This
project will have approximately 23,353 square feet of Zone 1 impact and 3,713 square feet of Zone 2
impact. All of that impact is within the existing easement except for 362 square feet of Zone 2
disturbance where the City had to purchase additional easement. This project is replacing a section of
clay sanitary sewer line in poor condition with 16" ductile iron pipe using the existing easement,
alignment, and general depth. There is also approximately 203 LF of 8" clay line that is being
replaced outside of the riparian buffer zones with ductile iron using a slightly revised alignment. A
sanitary sewer bypass ("pump-around") will be installed using pumps, flexible hose, and generators.
Conventional construction equipment (trackhoes, dump trucks, trench box) will be used for the
installation. Sediment control devices will be installed.
