Due to a location conflict with a proposed NCDOT road widening
project, PNG proposes to abandon approximately 1.9 miles of the
existing Line 67 pipeline and replace it with approximately 2.48 miles
of new 8-inch steel pipeline. In addition to the pipeline replacement,
The Project will also involve the following:
• The construction of a new receiver/regulator station near the
intersection of North Forest Oak Road and East Ash Street.
• Installation of a new high-pressure distribution pipeline from the
proposed regulator station.
• Upgrade the existing Central Heights Regulator Station.
• Replacement of approximately 200 feet of the existing Line 67 north
of Central Heights Boulevard.
The Project is located southeast of Goldsboro, NC, northeast of
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (SJAFB), and is accessible from
North State Road (Route 1711, Highway 70 (Hwy 70), Gateway Drive,
and Central Heights Road (Route 1709).
The Project will begin at the Central heights Regulator Station and
proceed to the southeast for approximately 1.04 miles paralleling an
existing Duke Energy / PNG transmission line right-of-way (ROW)
until turning southwest for approximately 0.92 miles where it will cross
Hwy 70. The route will then proceed to the west for approximately
0.52 miles where it will terminate at the proposed Ash Street
Regulator Station. The new distribution pipeline will extend south for
approximately 1,860 feet from the proposed Ash Street Regulator
Station. The pipeline will cross various land use types consisting
primarily of mixed hardwood pine forest, agricultural fields, residential
and commercial areas, and existing maintained utility and NCDOT
ROW. The habitat assessment was conducted within an
approximately 1,190.41 acre area along the proposed Project route.
