It t is not valid for Archaeological Resources. You must consult separately with the Archaeology Group. PROJECT INFORMATION Project No: County: Orange WBS No.: 17BP.7.R.111 Document Type: Fed.Aid No: Funding: X State Federal Federal X Yes No Permit NWP Permit(s): Type(s): Project Description: Replace Bridge No. 99 on SR 1723 (New Hope Church Road) over New Hope Creek (no off-site detour specified). SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW DESCRIPTION OF REVIEW ACTIVITIES,RESULTS,AND CONCLUSIONS:HPOWeb reviewed on 21 December 2016 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Orange County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a mostly wooded APE with residential resources dating from the 1950s to the 2010s (viewed 21 December 2016). Two mid- twentieth-century houses, one at either end of the APE, are unexceptional examples of their types. Bridge No. 99, built in 1951, is not eligible for the National Register according to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Survey as it is not representative of any distinctive engineering or aesthetic type. Google Maps "Street View"confirmed the absence of critical architectural and landscape resources in the APE (viewed 21 December 2016). The project is reviewed under both GS 121-12(a)and Section 106. No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. WHY THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN THE PROJECT AREA: APE extends 600 feet to either end of the existing bridge(NE-SW) and 100 feet to either side of the SR 1723 (New Hope Church Road) centerline (SE-NW)to encompass proposed construction. Comprehensive historic architectural survey of Orange County(1992; 1993-4; 2001-2; 2014-present), and county GIS/tax materials and other visuals illustrate the absence of significant architectural and landscape resources in the APE. No National Register-listed properties are located within the APE. Should the design of the project change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review may be necessary.
