Box 891 • Southern Pines, N.C. 28388 (910) 695-1043 9 Fax (910) 695-3317 9 November 2010 Ms. Lia Gilleski NCDWQ 401 /Express Permitting Unit 2321 Crabtree Blvd. Suite 250 Raleigh, NC 27604 Ms. Gilleski, Thank you for speaking with me earlier concerning the Third Fork Creek Greenway permit modification (DWQ EXP# 04-1920v4). As we discuss the permit modification will result in there being a reduction of 420 square feet to the Zone A buffer impacts. This permit modification proposes two changes to the permit the first is slightly northeast of the Durham Facilities Maintenance Department parking lot, it would result in the removal 1,200 sq feet of buffer impact from the project through some minor trail realignments. The second modification is along the southeastern edge of the parking lot, the curb for the lot will be modified by moving it toward the proposed greenway trail slightly to southeast, resulting in an addition of 780 sq feet of buffer impact. When these two changes are combined the net result is a reduction of overall impact to the buffer by 420 square feet. The attached drawing helps illustrate the proposed activities. There will be no additional impacts to wetlands or streams as a result of these modifications only a change to the Zone A buffer impacts. If you have any questions please call me at your convenience. I will be in the office for the rest of this week barring any projects that pop up. Thank you for your time and assistance in completing our project.
