Dave Wanucha Please give a brief project description below.* The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has proposed to replace Alamance County Bridge No. 3 on Durham Street(SR 1529), project B-5346 over Dry Run creek;a poorly functioning,substandard old bridge with a new bridge. Bridge No. 3 is located just north of the Town of Elon and City of Burlington. Subdivision Streets intersect SR 1529 just north and south of the existing bridge location.The existing structure is a three span (1@17'8, 1 @17'0, 1@17'8)and is a timber deck on timber joists.The abutments and interior bents are timber caps, posts and concrete sills(timber bulkheads).The proposed structure is a single span (1 @70'-24")prestressed concrete cored slab with 4'deep caps.This structure has been designed to have as little environmental, wetlands,and surface water impacts as possible.2:1 roadway fill slopes shall be constructed to minimize drainage impacts in accordance to NCDOT design standards.
