The Municipal Unit of the Division of Water Resources has reviewed the Industrial User Pretreatment Permits
(IUPs) submitted for renewal by the Town of Valdese for the following Significant Industrial Users (SIUs). The
IUPs were received by the Division on November 30, 2020.

The review indicates that more information is needed to determine if the NPs meet the minimum requirements of
15A NCAC 211 .0905, .0916, and .0917 and 40 CFR 403.8(f)(1)(111). In order for the Division to complete its
review of the NPs, you are required to submit the following information for each SIU by January 18, 2021:
• A copy of the SIU applications;
• A copy of the Town's inspection of the SIUs;
• And, a revised allocation table.
Until the Division has received the required information, we will be unable to make a decision on the adequacy of
the NPs. Therefore, as allowed by 15A NCAC 211.0917 (e)(2), the Division's thirty -day comment period will be
suspended until the additional information is received, and at that time the full 30-day comment period will
recommence. You are encouraged to notify the affected industries of the extension of the Division's comment
period.

Federal and State pretreatment regulations require the local delegated pretreatment program to effectively control
and document the discharge of wastewater from Significant/Categorical Industrial Users to the POTW. It is the
POTW's responsibility to ensure that these objectives are consistently met.
