Dear Ms. Karoly:
Please find attached the additional information requested for the minor variance request
on Mr. Huff's property located at Lot 1 Silver Lake Phase 1 in Cary, NC. I have included
an updated site plan that includes details of the square footage of impact and the
vegetation to be removed during the construction of the wooden-slatted deck in Zone 2 of
the protected riparian buffer. I have also included an operation and maintenance
agreement for the rain barrel to be utilized on Mr. Huff's property.
The retaining wall shown on the site plan is a necessary structure designed to prevent
disturbance in Zone 1 of the riparian buffer. If this structure is not installed, the natural
topography is such that grading would be required in Zone 1 of the riparian buffer due to
elevation differences from the finished floor elevation of the residence and natural
ground.

A rain barrel system includes: an inflow port from which roof runoff is directed via gutter downspouts, UV
protected plastic resin storage barrel, discharge port and overflow port.
