HomeMy WebLinkAbout820303_Application Window Extension_20200501 Application Window Extension for WCW Farm(Facility#82-303) Facility#82-303 is utilizing corn as a receiving crop for waste application. The corn was planted May 1, 2020 and is determined to be in Growth Stage V15 as of June 26, 2020.With the corn. being in a vegetative growth stage the crop is still receptive to Nitrogen applications through swine effluent. Knowing that the corn plant requires approximately 48 GDUs to reach the next growth stage, by July 1 this crop will only be at growth stage V17-18 and still in a vegetative stage. Corn can see a yield response to Nitrogen applications up and until growth stage R3, which occurs approximately 91-98 days after seeding. The corn plant can utilize approximately 50%of its total Nitrogen during the remaining growth stages as indicated above. Knowing that the application fields on this farm have a maximum PAN amount of: Pivot 1-128 lbs N/a, Pivot 2—115 lbs N/a,and Reel pulls—111 lbs/a we could expect the corn to utilize the following amounts of Nitrogen during the remaining growth stages. Pivot 1—64 lbs N/a Pivot 2—57 lbs N/a Reel Pulls—55 lbs N/a Knowing these facts about the corn at WCW Farm, I would recommend extending the application window on this corn crop until July 31, 2020 or until the maximum amount of Nitrogen has been applied to the application fields.
