This letter is in response to your letter dated March 7, 2007 concerning on-going efforts
by Daze County to improve the water quality of Stumpy Point Bay, an effort that is
ironically being delayed and frustrated by some of the very agencies our citizen's trust to
protect our environment. In this case, the Division of Water Quality fits that definition.
I trust this letter satisfies the ultimatum deadline in terms of a reply. Unfortunately I
cannot speak for the Stumpy Point Water and Sewer Authority, the agency responsible
for decisions on issues that impact the proposed Stumpy Point Wastewater Treatment
Plant.
However, I would like to extend to you an invitation to attend the Apri12, 2007 meeting
of the Dare County Board of Commissioners, who will convene as the Stumpy Point
Wastewater Treatment Authority on that date. This meeting will provide you and
whoever else on the staff at DWQ that is serving to frustrate the progress of the Stumpy
Point Wastewater Treatment Plant an opportunity to explain to the Boazd and the citizens
of Dare County why your agency is frustrating that effort. You might also want to be
prepared to explain the demanding and trite tone of your correspondence as well.
