NOTICE OF A COMBINED PUBLIC HEARING
FOR THE PROPOSED STANTONSBURG ROAD 1 TENTH STREET CONNECTOR
FROM MEMORIAL DRIVE TO SR 1702 (EVANS STREET) IN GREENVILLE

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold an informal
Pre-Hearing Open House and a formal Combined Public Hearing for the above-
mentioned highway project on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the Ronald G. Michels
Center (2"d Floor), located at 2335 Hemby Lane, in Greenville.
NCDOT representatives will be available at the Pre-Hearing Open House to
answer questions and receive comments regarding the proposed project. The
opportunity to submit written comments or questions will also be provided. Interested
citizens may attend anytime between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The formal presentation of the project will begin at 7:00 p.m. The presentation
will consist of an explanation of the proposed location, design, the state-federal
relationship, and right of way and relocation requirements and procedures. Citizens will
have the opportunity to comment or ask questions. The presentation and comments will
be recorded and a written transcript will be prepared.
NCDOT proposes to directly connect Stantonsburg Road with Tenth Street,
beginning at Memorial Drive and ending at Evans Street (State Road 1702). It will
include a grade-separation (bridge over) of the CSX Transportation Rail Line. The new
road will be a multi-lane facility on both new and existing location. The proposed project
connects Stantonsburg Road with Tenth Street to provide a critical east-west connection
across Greenville.
The purpose of the project is to increase direct connectivity between the hospital
and school campus's and surrounding areas, with downtown Greenville. The project will
also improve vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle access, and will provide a facility for
future traffic needs.
Maps displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the
environmental document, known as the Environmental Assessment (EA) are available
for public review at the NCDOT Division Engineer's Office located at 105 Pactolus
Highway, Greenville, 27835 and at the City of Greenville; Public Works Department
located at 1500 Beatty Street, Greenville, 27834. The maps are also available online at:
