Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary)
Lauren Armeni with the Asheville Regional Office conducted a Compliance
Evaluation Inspection of the Hideaway Campground WWTP on December 10, 2020. Dale Wike (ORC)
was present and assisted in the inspection.
The following were areas of concern noted at the WWTP:
1. A large hole in the ground is still adjacent to the effluent end of the WWTP. This hole is a safety
hazard for the operators and should be addressed.
2. The soil around the influent pipe leading to the WWTP is continuing to erode due to unchecked
runoff. Runoff water should be diverted away from the WWTP.
Additionally, the effluent pipe could not be located and hasn't been since at least the last inspection in
2015. The effluent pipe needs to be located, and Ms. Armeni was informed by the ORC that he would
locate it in the spring.

Does the facility analyze process control parameters, for ex: MLSS, MCRT, Settleable
Solids, pH, DO, Sludge Judge, and other that are applicable?
A deep hole in the ground is still at the effluent end of the WWTP. This still needs to be
addressed as it poses a safety concern for the operators. There's also still erosion
occurring above the entrance to the WWTP at the influent pipe. Stone has been added to
the eroding area, but has not fully helped. Runoff water should be diverted away from the
WWTP.
