The Division of Water Resources (Division) received your sludge survey information on
December 2, 2020. With the survey results, you requested an extension of the sludge survey
requirement for lagoon 1 at the Greenwood Livestock 92 facility. Due to the amount of
treatment volume available, and the rate of sludge accumulation for the lagoon, the Division
agrees that a sludge survey is not needed until December 31 of the year that hogs return to the
facility.
The next sludge survey is out of compliance, but with no hogs since 2019, a POA is still needed.
If you do not intend to return hogs to this facility, it is recommended that you seek assistance in
cleaning out the lagoon, closing the facility and requesting that your permit be rescinded. Please
retain this letter and keep it with your farm records for reference.
