Roberto,
I know you asked me to follow up on this ... I apologize for the delay. I did, however, call Derk this afternoon
and he is researching the permit. I explained to him that I have been ORC for CVMHP NPDES#0063672 for
many years now and have never recorded E/U/D temperatures daily. (7 days / week) We have always (at least
2014 or thereabouts) recorded effluent temperature 5 days per week excluding holidays and the up and down
stream temperatures once per week with the fecal sample and dissolved oxygen reading.
The stream sites are not easy to access normally, both requiring sure footing and a keen eye for snakes. The
upstream is somewhat more accessible than the down and is within walking distance from the site. The
downstream site is 20 feet below the bridge on HWY 29 near the race track .... 3 to 5 miles from the site
and occasionally requires advanced notice to the speedways security officer.
This has never been an issue at time of inspection nor have we ever received violation for not reporting these
parameters. It was my understanding after taking over ORC from Jimmy Allison, that although the facility
needed attention, the monthly data he was submitting (DMR's) was adequate. It was only after I had been
using the on-line EDMR process did I become aware of this issue but again, no one ever questioned (until now)
and we have never received violation.
My concerns:
Daily = 7 days a week?
Daily temperature readings of the surface water / receiving stream really necessary?
I am including Derk in this email so that he can contact me regarding his file search and to keep my client
representative, Emmett Conneely, up to date as well.
Respectfully,
Dusty Metreyeon

Dustin:
If you recall we talked about requesting a permit modification for Carolina Village MHP on temperature to change from
Daily to Weekly monitoring.
