Re: Notice of Violation & Intent to Access Civil Penalty
Tracking No.: NOV-2020-DV-0506
Sanitary Sewer Overflows — October 2020
Collection System Permit No. WQCS00372
Briar Chapel Collection System
Chatham County
Dear Mr. Vinson
I am in receipt of the above referenced NOV dated November 17, 2020 and wanted to explain what
occurred and corrective measures taken to fix the referenced problem. We were notified around SPM
Central time on October 31" 2020 of a potential sewer line leaking at 1690 Great Ridge Drive in Briar
Chapel. The operator was on site and confirmed there appeared to be a very small sewer break. A
contractor was dispatched immediately and arrived on site shortly after with heavy equipment. After
investigation, the contractor discovered a full circle clamp that appeared to be from a previous line
break repair. The bolts were loose on the full circle clamp which was allowing a small amount of sewer
leakage. The contractor tightened the bolts and the leak subsided.
As you are aware of the many corrective measures we have taken to improve operations and preventive
maintenance at Briar Chapel since we terminated our relationship with Envirolink, Inc. for contract
operations the last week in September. We would ask for some limited leeway as we continue to
improve the deferred maintenance left by the Envirolink. Please consider the enforcement of the civil
penalty, as we are working diligently solve the issues.
Thank you for any consideration and please reach out with questions or concerns at the address above,
email at smcmillan(@integrawater.com or give me call directly 205-719-7795.
Sincerely,
Sean McMillan
Vice President
