This message is for Mr. Ronald A. Lougheed -
Mr. Lougheed -
I looked over your project (for 327 Bugle Boy Lane) and I have spoken with the NC Wildlife Resources
Commission staff member.
DWQ has concerns about the necessity of what's being proposed (rip-rapping the entire bank). Here are a
couple of options for you to consider:
1) 1 can approve the project conditionally and I can do that quickly - specifying that DWQ will approve rip-
rap enforcement at the toe of the slope, mulching and planting and laying back the banks (and we
wouldn't require the same density of planting as we would for a riparian restoration -we'd work with
you on that - and if you just put a really thick layer of mulch on the bank - you may not have to mat it,
provided it's sloped sufficiently), or-
2) I'll have to send you an additional information request asking you to explain why you can't do #1) -
which may delay your work.
Give me a ring after you've thought about this and we can discuss. Thanks.
